Half my soul is there – نصّ روحي هناك

Half My Soul Is There is an intimate short film exploring love, memory, and belonging through a personal journey to Palestine. In 2019, an Italian-Belgian artist travels twice to Beit Sahour with his partner, who is Palestinian and grew up there, as she guides him through the places that shaped her. From the crossing at “the bridge” — the Jordanian-Palestinian border — to the road back to Bethlehem, the film unfolds as a fragmented journey through space and emotion. Blending personal footage, archival fragments, and shifting image textures, the film navigates between clarity and blur—echoing the fragile nature of remembrance. It captures both the tenderness of intimate moments and the quiet violence of a land marked by occupation. At its core, the film is a gesture of love—towards a person and a place—moving towards a space where bodies merge with the landscape, blurring the boundaries between intimacy and territory, presence and memory.
